As one large manufacturing facility in Hart County began the closing process in 2019, another ramped up its activity.
Tenneco began slowing down production in 2019 to close its Hartwell plant as Nestlé-Purina opened its production facility.
Tenneco announced in Oct. 2018 that it would be shutting down its Hartwell plant and transferring production of the Monroe automobile shocks the company makes to Kettering, Ohio. Tenneco is also closing a plant in Owen Sound, Onyario, Canada, for the same purpose. The Forest Lake, Illinois company is closing the two facilities as part of its plans to “realign its manufacturing footprint to enhance operational efficiency and respond to changing market conditions and capacity requirements,” according to a statement at the time.
