Mrs. Elizabeth "Libby" Hill Johnson, 86, of Center of the World Road, Canon, passed away Monday, December 2, 2019 at her home.
Born on April 30, 1933 in Hartwell, Ga., she was the daughter of the late James Marvin Hill and Maggie Elizabeth Smith Hill. Mrs. Johnson was an avid gardener and retired from Monroe Auto Equipment Company. She was also a member of the Hartwell First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Joy Shaw (Lanier) of Canon; two sons, Tony Johnson and Barney Johnson (Debbie) all of Hartwell; a daughter-in-law, Angela Johnson of Elberton; a brother, Carey Hill (Linda) of Dewy Rose; seven grandchildren: Max Johnson, Cory Johnson, Casey Johnson, Ande Johnson Gunter (Clint), Benne Johnson, Justin Shaw and Grant Shaw; nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild also survives. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bennie Max Johnson; a son, Terry "TJ" Johnson; a sister, Mary Hill Fowler and two brothers: Gene Hill and Kenneth "JK" Hill.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, December 5, at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. At other times the family will be at the home.
A memorial service celebrating Libby's life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 5, in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with the Rev. Barry Brown and Rev. Tommy Childress officiating.
