Freddie Norton
Freddie Doyle Norton, age 64, of Lavonia, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center.
He was born January 25, 1957, in Franklin County, the son of Albert and Sara (Browning) Norton. Prior to his sickness, Freddie worked for Rocky Ridge Trucks as an installer. He was a member of Franklin Springs Baptist Church and attended Liberty Baptist Church in Carnesville.
He is survived by his loving sisters: Ann Westmoreland and husband Lamar, and Sue Greenway; nieces and nephews: Josh Greenway, Chris Lewis, Hollie Baird, Jeff Westmoreland, Lisa Mercer, and Mary Smith; several great nieces and nephews; and his feline companion: Tom. In addition to his parents, Freddie was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Norton; sister, Vickie Norton Brady; brother-in-law, Claude "Bo" Greenway; and niece Kelly Greenway.
A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with the Rev. Courtney Umbehant officiating. His nephews served as pallbearers. A private burial was in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Carnesville.
