Cynthia "Cindy" Gray Bowers Dyer, 62, of Airline-Goldmine Road, Canon, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2020 at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital.
Born on May 15, 1957 in Anderson, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Rufus Blanton Gray and Mary Ramsey Gray. Mrs. Dyer was a former pharmacy tech at Hailey's Drug Store, COO of Bowers Welding, former manager of the Dollar Tree, and was the manager of Royal Convenience Store at Cross Roads. She was also a member of the Lavonia Moose Lodge and Hartwell First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Brian R. Dyer; one son, Kevin Bowers of Canon; one step-son, Camden Holmes of Anderson, S.C.; two daughters: Mandy Bowers of Hartwell and Tonya Hayes of Canon; one brother, Matt Gray of Canon; two sisters: Maciene Graham (Randall) of Bowersville and Jodi Crump of Canon; five grandchildren: Trinity Bowers, KJ Wharton, Makenzy Hayes, Victoria Hayes, Kenneth Hayes; and one step-grandchild, Neveah Dyer. Mrs. Dyer was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Kenneth T. "Kenny" Bowers; and one brother, Pat Gray.
Because of the current conditions concerning the health and well-being of our community, the family will not be having a formal visitation. They ask that everyone keep them in their thoughts and prayers in the coming days and weeks.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, at the Nancy Hart Memorial Park with Dr. R. Allen Stewart officiating. Everyone will be asked to practice social distancing and may want to bring a lawn chair or is welcome to remain in their vehicles.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to defray medical and funeral expenses.
The Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell was in charge of all arrangements.
