A Canon man is wanted by the Hart County Sheriff’s Office after leading authorities on a high-speed chase Sunday in Royston.
Dillon Anthony Findley, 27, 1224 Campbell Ridge Road, Canon, is wanted by the Hart County Sheriff’s Office after allegedly fleeing from deputies, Royston Police and Georgia State Patrol troopers on Sunday, Feb. 28 in Royston.
Hart County Sheriff Mike Cleveland said deputies were executing a search warrant for Findley at the Days Inn in Royston in Hart County when Findley spotted a deputy’s vehicle and fled the scene.
An arrest warrant for Findley obtained by The Sun alleges he reached speeds near 80 m.p.h on Beaver Dam Farm Road in a 45 m.p.h. zone.
“He gave us the slip in town because he did not use due regard to the public and we did,” Cleveland said about the chase through Royston.
Findley, a convicted felon who is wanted on multiple felony drug charges and felony fleeing and eluding law enforcement charges, ditched his truck behind a residence in a subdivision in the city limits of Royston before fleeing on foot, Cleveland said.
Guns were also found in Findley’s vehicle, Cleveland said, and authorities have been told he could be armed.
The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information about the case to contact the Hart County Sheriff’s Office at 706-376-3114.
The Sun previously reported Findley was arrested in 2020 on methamphetamine trafficking charges in Hart County.
Department of Corrections records also show he was incarcerated in 2013 for felony theft by taking.
