A colorful addition to downtown Hartwell recently came down, and the group responsible for it is now hoping for a little extra help in the next year.
A Hartwell Public Works crew took down several hanging flower baskets from light poles on July 31. The baskets had been hanging since spring and were intended to brighten up downtown with a splash of color through the end of August, said Tammy Hutchinson, chair of the Hartwell Downtown Development Authority’s design committee.
The flowers are pretty, she said, but maintaining them properly isn’t cheap.
