Richard Butler
Richard E. "Dick" Butler, age 79, of Hartwell, Ga., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center.
He was born on January 10, 1942 in Syracuse, N.Y., to the late Monroe Butler and Lotta Schatzel Butler. He was retired from GE Corporation where he worked in Global Services as Telecomm Operator. Dick was past president of Rotary 6910, member of the Elfen Society and volunteer with Hart County Botanical Gardens. He was a Vietnam Veteran where he was a pilot and received the Purple Heart. Dick was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Nancy Kinney Butler; daughter, Laura Estelle (Doug) Schwenker of Lawrenceville, Ga. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Marilyn Butler Carter and brother, Kenneth Monroe Butler.
A celebration of Dick Butler's life was held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 4, in the chapel of Coile and Hall Funeral Directors with Pastor Duane Hall officiating. Please make memorial donations to Rotary Club of Hartwell, P.O. Box 752, Hartwell, GA 30643. 
Coile and Hall Funeral Directors, 333 E. Johnson Street in Hartwell was in charge of arrangements.
