 James Lane, Jr.
Rev. James Edward Lane, Jr., 86, of Canon, Ga., passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2020, at his home.
Rev. Lane was born in Graniteville, S.C., on October 25, 1933, son of the late James Edward Lane, Sr. and the late Betty Ann Hurst Lane Roberts. He was a retired minister, U.S. Army veteran and member of the Unity Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Maxine Swann Lane; sons, James Edward Lane, III (Joy) of Greenville, S.C. and Joey Scott Lane of Canon, Ga.; daughters, Lori Lane Smith (Ervin) of Carnesville, Ga. and Lisa Lane Puckett of Canon, Ga.; brothers, Robert Lane of Hull, Ga., Paul Lane of Buchanan, Ga., Charles Lane of Hartwell, Ga., Tim Lane of Hartwell, John Lane of Hartwell, and Ronnie Nichols of Lavonia, Ga.; sisters, Ann Smith of Marietta, Ga. and Susie Kirchmeier of Spokane, WA; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 20, in the Unity Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Roger Elrod and Rev. Clint Harper officiating.
