Douglas "Doug" Lamar White, 79, of Hartwell, passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at AnMed Health Medical Center, Anderson, S.C.
Born on March 14, 1942 in Hartwell, he was the son of the late John Henry White and Phenida Wilson White. Mr. White was a shipping clerk for NVF with 53 years of service. He was also a member of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, and former member of the Hart County Jaycees. 
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Ruth McCurley White; brother-in-law, Jeff McCurley both of Hartwell; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Cora Hurley of Hartwell. Mr. White is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: James, John, and Robert White; and six sisters: Mae Addison, Ruby Morris, Evelyn White, Maude Woodall, Martha Willis, and Becky Brock.
A Celebration of Doug's life was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 29, in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with the Rev. Jason Webb officiating. Doug wished to be cremated following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 2973 Mt. Olivet Road, Hartwell, GA 30643.
