Betty Rowland Skelton, 87, of Hartwell, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021 at The Overlook in Toccoa, Ga.
Born on December 18, 1933 in Hartwell, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Waymond Rowland and Annie Laura Snow Rowland. Mrs. Skelton was a house parent for the TMR School - Girls Home, homemaker, and former co-owner of B & B Country Store. She was a member of the Liberty Hill United Methodist Church where she served on various committees. 
Survivors include her husband, William Bondsie Skelton; daughter, Laurie S. Tipton (Bryant) of Hartwell; and two grandchildren: Ty Tipton and Anna Tipton, both of Hartwell. Mrs. Skelton was  preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Robert Roland and Oscar Rowland; and sister, Flora Rowland Risner.
A Celebration of Betty's life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 1, in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with the Rev. Michele May and Rev. Winfred Pitts officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Liberty Hill United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 754, Hartwell, GA 30643.
