As if being a high school science teacher wasn’t pressure enough, Christie Simpson has her principal’s daughter in her class this school year.
“Yeah, no pressure,” she joked on Friday, Nov. 15, during the annual Hart County Teacher of the Year luncheon at the Hart College and Career Academy’s community room.
Simpson has faced that pressure head on and earned the title of Hart County Charter System Teacher of the Year.
“I thought it was a joke when they first came in,” Simpson said about the day Hart County High School principal Kevin Gaines and the other administrators surprised her during class to announce she had been chosen by her peers as the school’s Teacher of the Year.
