Maureen Koch Thurber, 82, of Flowering Drive, Grayson, Ga., formerly of Hartwell, passed away Friday, September 8, 2017, at Gwinnett Medical Center, Lawrenceville, Ga.
Born on August 12, 1935, in Milwaukee, Wis., she was the daughter of the late Walter Koch and Leona Loepke Koch. Mrs. Thurber spent most of her career as a pastor's wife. Her husband, the Rev. William J. Thurber, Sr., preceded her in death in 2010. She was a former member of the Faith Lutheran Church of Hartwell and was a member of the Oak Road Lutheran Church in Lilburn, Ga.
Survivors include two sons, William J. "Bill" Thurber of Grayson and Thomas P. "Tom" Thurber of Hartwell; a daughter, Ruth Pierce of Hattiesburg, Misss.; four grandchildren: Allison, Jessica, Megan and Amy; and three great-grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Thurber was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and a brother, Roger Koch.
Graveside services were held at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 13, at the Nancy Hart Memorial Park with the Rev. Dr. Matthew Cawthorn officiating.
