James "Jim" Milton Nelms, age 88, of Lost Trail, Hartwell, Ga., went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital. He was the husband of Gwen Plemons Nelms.
He was born October 30, 1930 in Fulton County, Atlanta, to the late Stewart Grady Nelms and Cora Evans Nelms.
He was a U.S Army veteran having served in the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and attended Reed Creek Baptist Church. He was retired as a printer from Dittler Bros. Printing.
Mr. Nelms is survived by his wife; children: Susan (Karl) Wendorf of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Sharon (Randy) Martin of Dallas, Ga.; sibling, Thomas C. Nelms; grandchildren: Matthew (Andi) Wendorf, Lindsey (Kelly) Felix, Trent and Trevor Martin; great-grandchildren: Claire and Avett.
Funeral services were held at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 9, in the chapel of Coile and Hall Funeral Directors, 333 E. Johnson St., Hartwell, with the Rev. Eric Boyd officiating. Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 10, at Reed Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
