Floyd William Hill, 87, of Bowersville Highway, Bowersville, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018, at the Kindred Hospice, Athens, Ga.
Born on July 8, 1930 in Hartwell, Ga., he was the son of the late Berter Hill and Myrtie Segars Hill. Mr. Hill was a retired electrician from Monroe Auto Equipment Company and a member of the Providence United Methodist Church. He also was a member of the American Legion Post #109 and a U.S. Army Korean War veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Opal White Hill; two daughters, Brenda Hill of Royston, Martha Baskins Webb and Billy of Bowersville; three brothers: Larry Hill and Carol of Bowersville, Roger Hill, Dewy Hill both of Lavonia; five sisters: Frances Cleveland, Mary King and Richard, Shirley Gail Bruce and Roy, Susan Thornton and George all of Lavonia, Elizabeth Bailey and Bill of Marietta; three grandchildren: Hank Baskins and Allison, Ben Webb, and Rose Webb; two great-grandchildren: Kate Baskins and Will Baskins also survive. Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Wanda Hill Nemeth and one brother, Harold Hill.
A memorial service celebrating Floyd's life was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with the Rev. Dick Huycke and Mr. Hank Baskins officiating.
