Daniel Joseph Parker, 64, of Canon, Ga., went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 4, 2017, at his home.
He was born on November 6, 1952, in Thomasville, Ga., to the late Dudley Wayne Parker and Ruth Pilard Parker. Dan received a juris doctorate degree from the University of Georgia and was owner of the Daniel J. Parker Law Offices. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Cross Roads Baptist Church. He was past president of Hartwell Optimist Club, long time supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Toys for Tots and he enjoyed playing Santa each year to brighten the lives of local children. He was a proud member of "Clan McBubba".
He is survived by his wife, Linda Cobb Parker of the home; children: Ron S. Parker of Temple, Texas and Sarah Parker of West Hartford, Conn.; step-children, Joni Powell of Royston, Ga., Brian Byers of Hartwell, Ga., and Brannon and Sarah Byrum of Hartwell, Ga.; sister, Barbara Parker Corbitt of Haihira, Ga.; and brother, David Parker of Edmond, Okla.; special cousins: Beth and Marty Merritt of Tifton, Ga., Sara Beth Merritt of Decatur, Ga., and Holly Goodman of Decatur, Ga. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services celebrating Dan's life was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, from the sanctuary of Cross Roads Baptist Church with the Rev. Sean Payne, Pastor Josh Rathel and Rev. Eddie Thornton officiating. Burial followed in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
Coile and Hall Funeral Directors, 333 E. Johnson St., Hartwell was in charge of arrangements.
