Charles Jarrell Martin, 82, of Royston, passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at the Hartwell Heath and Rehabilitation Center in Hartwell, Georgia.
Mr. Martin was born in Canon, on November 25, 1936, son of the late Lonnie Gerome Martin and the late Velma Starr Martin. He was shift manager for Columbia Nitrogen and was a member of the Royston First United Methodist Church in Royston.
"Pop" loved golf, the Masters, his "Beba" and his family, his dogs, telling "tales," and his time spent working at Highland Walk Golf Course and Mini Tec. He loved listening to WLHR, the Swap Shop, and the Braves. For many years, he attended Poplar Springs Methodist Campground and the Masters. His work with Columbia Nitrogen took he and Vivian to Saudi Arabia, where they spent time traveling throughout Europe, Asia, and Africa.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Herschel Martin, Melvin Martin, and Johnny Martin; and sisters, Mary Graham and Sara Ayers.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Vivian Almond Martin; daughter and son-in-law, Terrie and Norman Holley of Royston; granddaughter and her husband, Meghan and BJ Hudson; great-granddaughters, Hadleigh and Rowen; brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Betty Martin of Jackson, S.C.; sister, Polly Casey of Canon; sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Furman Lewis of Clarkesville; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, in the Royston First United Methodist Church First Place Gym with the Rev. Matt Parker officiating.
