Bikers host benefit ride for NEGCDV
Bikers from across two states will come together Saturday, Oct. 7 to raise funds for the Northeast Georgia Council on Domestic Violence.
Although this is the sixth year of the Up-Town Riders and Satchamo’s bike ride, this is only the second year that it will benefit NEGCDV.
This annual event always proves to be more than a bike ride. This year is no exception and it is being billed as a bikes, blues and barbecue event.
Registration will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Cycle Gear, 722 Collins Hill Road in Lawrenceville and kick stands will go up at 11:30 a.m.
The cost of the ride is $20 per rider and $15 for passengers.
Breakfast will be held during the registration.
The bike ride will culminate in downtown Hartwell and that’s where the blues and barbecue will begin.
The barbecue will be provided by Satchamo’s.
In addition to blues and barbecue, there will be raffles, a 50/50 drawing and lots of vendors.
“We are going to have line dancing, the blues bands from High Cotton and a short gospel set,” said organizer Cedric Martin. “We want to row this event to more of a diverse cultural event where we can bring all of the cultures in our community together. We want to include all nationalities in the community.”
The entire event will be live streamed and will become part of a documentary being produced by SITREP Productions.
