As many other youth their age were taking in the last few days of summer, five Hart County 4-H’ers were competing among the best in Georgia at the State 4-H Congress in Atlanta.
Local district winners spent a great deal of time throughout the spring and summer months perfecting their 4-H projects and interview skills to compete against winners from other districts to see who would become “Masters” of their project area, said Hart County 4-H agent Brandi Shiflet.
“Becoming a ‘Master 4-H’er’ in a given project area is the highest honor given to 4-H members and a dream for many,” Shiflet said. “Numerous young people start focusing their efforts on this goal at the end of seventh grade. They work extremely hard to make sure they present their best selves and then compete at State Congress and hope their efforts are rewarded.”
