Plans for graduation, prom and the end of the school year are moving forward as dates and times were announced on Friday, May 8.

Prom is scheduled for July 11 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. with the location to be determined at a later date, the school system announced Friday.

Graduation practice and the senior picnic is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, July 17 at Herndon Stadium. The graduation ceremony would be the following day on Saturday, July 18, at Herndon Stadium.

Those dates are pending advice from local and state authorities regarding public health conditions at the time.

What would have been graduation week, beginning May 18, will start with yearbook pick-up, awards and other items from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fine Arts Center car loop. Students will also return Chromebooks on May 18 when picking up yearbooks. Everyone is asked to remain in their vehicle when picking up or dropping off items.

A senior class Google meet will be held at 6 p.m. on May 19. The link will be sent to students via Google Classroom and the school system noted this is very important.

Seniors can grab a free Kona Ice on May 21 by heading to the Bell’s Shopping Center from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and going through the drive-thru Kona Ice.

A parade of graduates will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 23. The parade starts at Hart County High School and will end at the Bell’s Shopping Center. One vehicle per senior is permitted. Graduates can wear their cap and gown and decorate their vehicle prior to the parade. Vehicle occupants must remain in their vehicle.

Instead of its typical end of the year awards ceremony, the high school will host a virtual awards night starting at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 15. The program can be viewed on Facebook and Instagram, through a link on the high school’s website and on HTC Channel 3.
