County urges satellite market modification

Hart County took another step toward lifting its “orphan” county status by urging the Federal Communications Commission to make a decision on the impending market modification appeal.  

The Hart County Board of Commissioners voted 4-0, commissioner R.C. Oglesby was absent, to send a letter to the FCC requesting they make a decision on the Application for Review that was submitted by opposing parties after the county was granted a satellite television market modification last year.

“After years of focused effort, the awarded Memorandum and Orders for market modification were considered a great success for the people of Northeast Georgia,” the letter wrote. “The Order provided a means for our citizens to receive pertinent news, weather, sports, politics, and other broadcasts from our state.”
